Sugar Cookies: Peaky & Spike Made Easy

Whether you're making your very first star block or looking to improve your piecing accuracy, you'll leave the Sugar Cookies Workshop with techniques you can confidently use in future quilts. We'll piece beautiful star blocks using Peaky and Spike units (they're easier than they look!) while learning accurate cutting, piecing, and trimming techniques. Along the way, you'll discover that a few simple techniques can make piecing easier, help borders fit beautifully and make quilting even more enjoyable.

Supplies for Class –

• Sugar Cookies quilt pattern

• Sewing Machine in good working order (Remember your power cord and foot pedal.)

• Quarter-inch foot

• Basic sewing supplies to include thread, small scissors, seam ripper, pins, and clips

• Cutting Mat – 12” x 12” (or larger) rotating mat or 12” x 18” regular mat

• Rotary Cutter - with fresh blade

• *A 6 ½” x 24” ruler or a similar size to cut strips

* (I used my Stripology XL to cut yardage into strips and make sub cuts.)

• 4 ½” x 4 ½” square ruler

• 2 fat quarters in contrasting colors for a practice block – prepared the same way you will prepare your good fabric.

Optional but Helpful Supplies -

• G Easy Ruler stickers to mark your ruler (Can use Washi tape or a Sharpie marker)

• 3 ½” x 3 ½” square ruler

• 12 ½” x 12 ½” square ruler

• Stiletto

• Presser bar for pressing seams open

Bring your good fabric. Once everyone has made at least one sample block, we can play with color layouts and shop for coordinates.
