Demystifying Body Measurements & the Short Course in Pattern Reading

Demystifying Body Measurements & the Short Course on Pattern Reading
During this one evening, 3 hour class students will learn how to self measure and to measure others. You will leave with your personal measurements and the skill to measure yourself before a new apparel project. You will practice measuring yourself and checking your own work. You will want to wear a pair of leggings, your favorite undergarments and a form fitting top to collect the most accurate numbers. You may want to take the class with a buddy with whom you can share your measurements or you can come and pair up with a new sewing friend.
The second part of the evening will be actively reading and marking on pattern inserts to help demystify the instructions. We will work on a “Big Four” pattern and an independent pattern company’s instructions. You will need high lighters, a pencil and some extra paper for notes. You will leave armed with “know how” and the vocabulary to begin your own journey with garment construction.
As mentioned above, the class is a one evening hands on lesson. We will take a short break midway through. Instructional materials will be provided. You are to dress accordingly, bring a notebook, a measuring tape, highlighters and whatever you need to be comfortable.
