Join me for this fun short class to make a quick Christmas quilt and learn how to use the
Quick Straight Ruler (QSR) by Sew Kind of Wonderful. The QSR makes cutting bias
edges, easy, quick and most importantly consistent. Your angles line up and the
diamonds glow! This pattern is a great introduction to the ruler and the quilt shines in
both traditional and modern fabrics. Open spaces allow for great quilting options. Can
you imagine black and white diamonds? Wow! Or in Kaffe fabrics? Get those scraps
and precuts out!

Note: This ruler has at least 6 patterns available to make other SKW quilts. The ruler
can also be used for other quilts, with helpful markings, including 1/8”, to aid fussy
cutting or squaring up. In the spring, we will be offering more short classes using this
ruler, moving to intermediate and more advanced quilts.

Materials: (All materials for this class purchased at the store get a 10% discount).

Fabrics: See pattern for materials for the large size quilt, 63” x 70.” Or you can make it
as small as you like .My Christmas sample is about 43” x 56.” I used a layer cake and
scraps for my “diamonds” and backgrounds (you need 5” x10” strips). Or as the pattern
indicates, quarter yards work great.

Sewing machine in good working order. A quarter inch foot helps but is not required.
General, sewing supplies: Rotary cutter and sharp blade (I recommend 45 size for QSR
cutting). Ruler for cutting strips and blocks, thread. Pins for piecing.

Helpful notion: Ruler tape to mark your cuts. For example, Omnigrid Glow line ¼”
tape. It comes in bright colors. Other brands available. Temporary tape on ruler helps
to make sure you are consistent in your cutting appropriate marks on the QSR. Can be
used on any ruler to make sure you consistently cut where you intend!
