English Paper Piecing (EPP)



Learn all about English Paper Piecing by making a hexagon block. You will learn several techniques including:

–making templates and “windows” to identify which parts of fabric to cut

–studying and identifying various elements within fabric to “fussy cut” to make creative EPP blocks

–tracing template onto fabric and cutting pieces

–basting fabric onto paper pieces via 2 different methods (thread baste or glue baste)

–stitching pieces together in sections and then sections sewn together to complete block

 

Your single block can be the springboard for a future quilt, or you can incorporate your block into a small project such as a mug rug or pincushion.

 

Student Supplies

–Several Pieces of coordinating fabric such as 2 fat quarters or a charm pack

–Scissors for cutting fabric

–Pencil to trace on fabric (or other writing instrument like Frixion Pen)

–Needles - size 8-11

–Cotton thread in neutral color such as medium gray or tan/cream

--Thimble
