The first time I worked at Sew Much Fun! was in the early 2010s, but I didn’t start sewing until I began working at the store in 2025. With Drusilla as my MIL (mother in love), I am no stranger to the history of this store and the incredible talent all sewists possess. Receiving her quilts, and anything she makes us, has always been my favorite gift; but I am able to appreciate the craft so much more after learning what goes into making these projects. In a short span of time, I have loved making apparel and bags and am looking forward to expanding my skills with quilting and embroidery, especially on these Berninas!    

I have always been creative in the kitchen and am glad to have found another outlet of creativity in color and fabric selection. Assisting our wonderful customers in picking out fabric selections for their projects is one of my favorite things to do. So, if you ever need any help, come find me!

Austin and I have two children, Owen and Arden, who love coming to “work and shop” at the store. Owen has already made his first quilt! We’re excited to continue the legacy of Sew Much Fun! and can’t wait to go on this creative journey with you all. 

Susan Scott- Manager/Sales/Teacher

 I am originally from Cary, NC and have lived all over NC, some in SC, VA, and MD.  I grew up with various handmade pieces of clothing from my mom as a kid, so I’m sure she has a lot to do with my creative mind. My mom signed me up for a sewing class one summer at G Street Fabrics in MD when I was eleven.  I wasn’t the happiest about it, but after was so excited that I signed up for every class after that from pattern making to various apparel making classes. I was hooked and got my first Bernina 1001 not long after that. Sewing has continued to be in my life through working and growing up in a bridal and formal wear shop, taking high school fashion design classes, sewing costumes for family and friends, and most recently quilting with my mom and sewing various items for charity through a sewing ministry at church.  One thing not everyone knows about me is that I was a professional photographer for many years taking pictures at weddings, special events and even running multiples portrait studios.  

 My husband Luke and I have two fur babies named Blue and Beulah. 

Emma - Sales

I was born and raised in NC to an incredibly gifted family, so my varying interests growing up no doubt came from my creative parents. My passion for sewing was inspired by my mom who would make quilts and sew me cute outfits in elementary school. I recount her telling me stories of how I would ask for her leftover fabric scraps and then run off, and it wasn’t until a few hours later that I would return with some interesting result of my imagination. I distinctly remember sewing my Barbie dolls new ball gowns by cutting apart their original dresses and hand-sewing them back together with the tops and skirts mismatched. It wasn’t until late middle school I started dabbling into quilt making, and recently, by the grace of God, I managed to finish a Christmas quilt before the 2024 holiday ended.

Working at a quilt store is dangerous because it fills me with project ideas that entice me to buy fabric faster than I can use it. I started working at Sew Much Fun! in June of 2024 and have quickly been turned into a quilter. I can attest that I didn’t have half as much fabric as before working here. While working, I am studying at Regent University to get my Bachelor’s in Clinical and Counseling Psychology and become a Christian intimacy and couples therapist. In my downtime -away from piles of college work- I aim to finish (or even start) on some UFO’s but I often jump around to my other hobbies like crochet, reading, or cross-stitching. I adore our many customers and look forward to seeing where the future takes me!

 
Helen - Tech

I began sewing in my 8^th grade Home Economics class and immediately developed a lifelong love of the art of sewing. I took several classes in tailoring and loved working with all different types of materials. I made most of my clothes through high school and college. After marrying and having children I developed an interest in Heirloom Sewing. I learned smocking and made matching smocked Easter and Christmas dresses for my girls when they were young. After having twins, I made a christening dress to match our family heirloom christening dress for my twins christening. I was thrilled when my granddaughter was christened in the same dress several years ago. I also enjoy interior design and took an upholstering class several years ago (not my favorite), but I have used some of the techniques for home projects. Finally, I love learning how things work - working on sewing machines and learning how they work and how to resolve problems has been a challenge and a reward in my retirement! I love working on your machines at Sew Much Fun!

 Cezanne - Sales 

I've lived in NC all my life. I graduated from NC State and worked as a microbiologist for 25 years. I bought my first sewing machine 27 years ago and haven't stopped sewing since! I currently volunteer with the Gaston ECA where I crochet, quilt, and hand embroider to benefit local charities like Caromont NICU and Least of these Carolinas.  I am having fun learning to free motion quilt these quilts before I donate them.

My name is Isabella Clark! I have been sewing for over 5 years, mostly hand sewing. I first found Sew Much Fun when I was making a Cosplay, and that same day I walked in for the first time I put in an application. This is definitely a place where you can have SEW much fun!
