Wall Quilt Description
Let’s color and Watercolor on fabric! I love watercolors and painting the easy way… if you can trace and color with crayons you’ve got it! There will be so many flowers to see on this incredible trip, so take lots of pictures to use for these types of quilts. Susan will teach you some great techniques for coloring using Caran D’Ache Neo Color II Wax Pastels and Textile Medium or Inktense Pencils to create beautiful watercolor flowers on fabric. We will also be using hand dyed embroidery threads to create detail in the flowers and leaves. Susan has many embellishing techniques to share for adding extra detail to each flower. These small wall pieces could be framed in a shadowbox frame, made into a fabric book or hung with decorative or vintage hangers!

“Exotic Doodle Blooms” Pattern: $15.
- Silver Pencil (Roxanne, Prismacolor or General)
- Batiks for Borders (2-3) Fat Quarters (If I am painting a pink flower I do not use a pink fabric, but maybe a simple print of purple, green or turquoise so the painted flower is the focal point and does not fight with the borders.)
- Hand dyed Embroidery Threads (sizes, #12, #8, #5 and #3, listed finest to thickest) (these will be available for purchase during class)
- Needles: Chenille-#22, 24, 18 Milliner-#1
- Embroidery Scissors
- Sue Spargo’s Creative Stitch Book (available on www.susanedmonsondesigns.com)
- Good Lighting (Ott Light) (optional)
- Laces, trims, Old Buttons (optional)
- ***Caran D’Ache Neo Color II Wax Pastels & Textile Medium OR ***Intense Pencils (Textile Medium not needed for this product) (Susan will have these available to share during class)
- ***Brushes: Very short white bristle, flat brushes or Curved Flat Scrubber Brushes (Size 2-4) (Susan will have some to share in class)
- PFD Fabric
- Hand dyed fabrics for backgrounds, such as Osnaburg or Linen
- Fusible Cotton Batting (Quilter’s Dream Fusion Batting)
- Ribbons
- Freezer Paper for Work Surface
