 Supplies

Sewing machine w/new needle – machine needs to make at least a 5mm wide zigzag.

Basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc.)

Wonder Clips or some clips to hold batting folded into strips before sewing – I had a large box of Wonder Clips

Jeans needle – size 14-18 – I used 16

Best Press - you need starch to make sure the rug stays flat

Thread to match – large spool – I used Aurifil variegated – you will need many bobbins 4-6 small or 3-4 large.

 Fabric

 1 Jelly Roll – 40 to 42 strips that are 2-1/2” wide

One 50 yard roll of batting 2-1/4” wide or two 25 yard rolls of 2-1/2” wide

 Optional:

Bernina sewing machine with Dual Feed

Bernina foot #10. This foot has a guide down the center which helps when zigzagging.

Before class you will need to sew all jelly roll strips end to end.  You can do an angled seam or straight. This step needs to be complete before class. We will work on inserting batting and starting our rug.  You may not finish rug in class but you will know all the tips to finish this project.

Its important to keep this rug flat while sewing.  Make sure you have tray on your machine and if you can come up with a support to keep rug flat while sewing bring it along.  The flatter the surface the easier to keep rug flat and not get wavy shape.
