Whirlwind Quilt using Scrap Crazy 6 Rulers

Scrap Crazy 6 is a great template set to make a planned or scrappy quilt. Fabric placement can create the Whirlwind pattern or you can make a traditional crazy quilt. You can stack your fabrics in multiple layers or cut from your scraps. Cutting will be done quickly. The grip on the templates helps hold the fabric in place when you are cutting. Collect your woven or batik fabrics and join us for this great ruler class. We will discuss a bonus quilt using one template in class.

Scrap Crazy 6 templates by Creative Grids

Sewing machine w/new needle

Basic sewing kit (scissors, piecing thread, pins, etc.)

Rotary cutter w/new blade

Medium sized cutting mat 24 x 36

Long cutting ruler, 6.5 x 24 or 8.5 x 24

Best Press (optional)

Fabrics for Whirlwind

7 fat quarters for background

1 fat quarter for accent

¾ yard for pinwheels

1 ¼ inner border and binding

2 ¼ yards for outer border

 My sample is only 9 squares, above fabric requirements are for 12 square quilt measuring 59 x 71.

 If you want to make a scrappy quilt bring a variety of fat quarters.

Please have all your fat quarters pressed and ready to cut before class. We want to cut quickly and begin piecing.
