Let?s make a Perfectly Practical Bag great for travel and carrying all the things you need. This is a one-day class but homework is required. The key to making this bag is organization. You will need to cut and label all pieces of the bag as directed in the pattern on page 1 and the top of page 2 before coming to class. It?s easy, just take your time and read the directions carefully. You will need to bring these labelled cut pieces and be ready to start assembling and sewing your bag.

This class is designed to take all the fear out of binding your quilts!  No longer will you be struggling with the mitered corners on those quilts you have worked so hard on.  There will be several binding techniques discussed for different types of quilts.

This class is fun on so many levels! It was inspired from Melissa Averinos new book, “Making Faces in Fabric”. If you have taken Susan’s Machine Quilting Classes this is a great addition to improve those skills. We will first create a simple (funny) face in the morning using fabric collage techniques (and NO you do not have to be a portrait artist!) using unique fabrics, then in the afternoon we will machine quilt all the details such as eyelashes, cheeks, hair, etc. It is easy to create a face if you don’t have to make it look like anyone special. Just play and have fun with it!!! These could be made into placemats, small wall hangings, tote bags, pillows and more! This will be a no stress day of playing with fabric and threads!

This beginning quilting class will explore many piecing techniques. You will learn from ground zero how to cut, sew & press each block. Join us on the second Saturday of each month to complete this beautiful Aged Muslin quilt. Stargazing is a 10 month block of the month to make a 92 x 92 quilt. Marcus Brothers Aged Muslin are rich, saturated hues of hand dyed fabric that are sure to make this quilt become a Star! Aged Muslin is a special dyeing technique that creates a faded, distressed look that gives the cloth its rich suede-like appearance. Stargazing consist of 12 star blocks and unique sashing that form a secondary design. Each month you will receive the fabric and individual patterns necessary to complete the 73 blocks in the quilt center, along with all the fabrics for the diagonal setting triangles, outer borders and binding. This BOM is very organized and keeping up with monthly cutting and piecing will keep you excited and interested all year. Come have fun creating a one-of-a-kind collage art quilt. Using one of the ?Teeny Tiny Collage Patterns by Laura Heine, we will cover the techniques to blend fabrics and use them to create these popular art quilts. Using these smaller patterns, we will focus on analyzing color movement, building the design and foundation and tips to prepare your fabrics. We also play with fabric to spot the ?perfect? eye or ?nose? or even an eyelash! We end class with a discussion of finishing options. Students may choose any of the collage quilts in the collection of Teeny Tiny Collage Patterns.
