Classes


With every machine purchase at classes are offered so that you can “master” all that your machine can do for you. We feel that the more you know about your machine, the more you will enjoy your sewing experience. Our students are invited to attend My BERNINA Classes as often as they like. We understand that “reinforcement” leads to true mastery.

In this class we will explore the different ways to do appliqué in quilting. Starting with our Grandmother’s hand appliqué and continuing on to the quick & easy machine appliqué that we can do today. We will make a small sample of each in this 3 hour class.

All About Embroidery New for 2016 - Saturday sit and sew classes! Come to this education event that includes a 30-45 minute embroidery presentation by a knowledgeable BERNINA educator . After the presentation, you are invited to bring your machine so you can get started on the project (maybe finish?) and spend the day sewing with your fellow embroiders. Bring a USB stick to class to have ALL the class information (video presentation, power point lesson, free designs) put on for you. Still only $15 per class.

Come see how Amanda uses the newest BERNINA foot #72 (ruler foot) and ruler templates on our Q24, Q20 and domestic machines. You will be able to practice on our machines using her ruler panel. This class is designed to take all the fear out of binding your quilts! No longer will you be struggling with the mitered corners on those quilts you have worked so hard on. There will be several binding techniques discussed for different types of quilts.

Join us on the second Saturday of each month for our fun and informative new Block of the Month. Forest Floor is a beautiful batik 106" square quilt from Wing and A Prayer Designs. Timeless Treasures Forest Floor collection is a palette of light to dark autumn hues. The Forest Floor quilt is a twist on tradition featuring twelve, 12" blocks nestled in a log cabin setting. The large stamped batik leaves let the fabric do the work for you enhancing the Forest Floor theme. A beautiful pieced border frames this richly colored quilt. Each month we will demo techniques for piecing your blocks and show you some great tools to help make piecing quicker and easier. We will have a fun time with show and tell and sharing our piecing success.

Improve hooping skills; better understand the features on your machine that allow you to tweak the position of a design within the hoop. Do you love edge to edge quilting, but don't have a longarm machine? Come learn to how to use your embroidery machine to quilt edge to edge. You will stitch out 3 columns of quilting using 2 designs in each column. You will receive a pattern for making a quilted tote out of your class sample.

Sew Much Fun is changing our monthly embroidery club for 2017! Each month we will be learning a new technique. You will still have a project to make and get designs when you sign up. We are going to have Sew Much Fun exploring all that you can do with your embroidery machine whether you are a beginner or an experienced embroiderer. There are 2 days to choose from Friday or Saturday! We are calling all embroidery fans to come join in the fun! Bring your USB stick so we can download the projects and designs. This is not the same club we had in 2016. It is more technique oriented and I think you are going to love it! Come learn a new technique, make new friends and go home with a great project!

Have you always wanted to sew? Our Intro to Sewing class will help you get to know your machine, as well as the basics of pinning, cutting, pressing, and stitching. During this class, youll also learn the basics of hemming, adjusting stitches for certain projects, and finishing edges. Bring your machine from home, or test drive one of our Bernina classroom machines. At the end of the class, you will have made a tissue holder to take home! Adults and teens welcome. 6 to 8:30 $25

We will introduce sewing basics and learn how to read patterns while making different sewing projects and gifts. We will be using Kwik Start & Kwik Sew Learning to Sew Patterns. Patterns and supplies are not included in the cost of class & will vary according to each project. Each student will work at their own pace.

After learning the basics in the INTRO TO SEWING class, the LEARNING TO SEW classes allow you to do a project of your own choosing or one of the class samples. This beginning quilting class will explore many piecing techniques. You will learn from ground zero how to cut, sew & press each block. We will also talk about products & how they affect the finished quilt. So use the good stuff! Good thread, good fabric, good tools, good skills make for a beautiful finish! Each block will build to create a wall hanging or baby quilt or small lap quilt when finished. You will have a quilt top at the end of class using 3 different piecing techniques and machine applique techniques.
