Classes


With every machine purchase at classes are offered so that you can “master” all that your machine can do for you. We feel that the more you know about your machine, the more you will enjoy your sewing experience. Our students are invited to attend My BERNINA Classes as often as they like. We understand that “reinforcement” leads to true mastery.

Our team includes talented teachers who offer classes such as beginning sewing, quilting, home decoration, crafting, garment construction, and heirloom sewing. Many of our customers have discovered that classes provide the opportunity to learn new techniques, sew without interruption, and build friendships with a diverse group of people bound together by their love of sewing. We hope you will join in on the fun! 

If your class is an all day class, please feel free to bring a lunch and store it in our refrigerator.  Going out to eat can be fun, but takes away from your class time.

This project is from Susan’s new book “Twigs & Tweets”.  It is one of the most useful Quilting tools yet!  It is designed to carry all your blocks as you work on them to keep them flat & neat!  Simple to make, you will leave with yours complete ready to put your next project in for any travel.  We will use Peltex to create beautiful free motion applique on the front.  These techniques can be used for many other uses.

Join us on the second Saturday of each month for our fun and informative new Block of the Month. Forest Floor is a beautiful batik 106" square quilt from Wing and A Prayer Designs. Timeless Treasures Forest Floor collection is a palette of light to dark autumn hues. The Forest Floor quilt is a twist on tradition featuring twelve, 12" blocks nestled in a log cabin setting. The large stamped batik leaves let the fabric do the work for you enhancing the Forest Floor theme. A beautiful pieced border frames this richly colored quilt. Each month we will demo techniques for piecing your blocks and show you some great tools to help make piecing quicker and easier. We will have a fun time with show and tell and sharing our piecing success.

Come and enjoy creating a one-of-a-kind collage art quilt. Using a pattern by Laura Heine, we will cover the techniques to blend fabrics and use them to create these popular art quilts. This class is offered in 2 parts. In Class 1, we analyze our design, design the foundation, prepare our fabrics, and play with fabric to spot the perfect eye or nose or even an eyelash! Kelly will work with individuals in the first class to analyze their pattern, and make fabric choices, choices, choices! We will also make our backgrounds (options). In the 2nd class, we create our quilt and talk about tricks of placement. This part is so much fun!!! We end with a discussion of finishing options. Students may choose any Laura Heine pattern but if this is your first, students find Hip Hop Rabbit, Purrfect Cat, or Emerson Puppy easier. Do you love edge to edge quilting, but don't have a longarm machine? Come learn to how to use your embroidery machine to quilt edge to edge. You will stitch out 3 columns of quilting using 2 designs in each column. You will receive a pattern for making a quilted tote out of your class sample.

Sew Much Fun is changing our monthly embroidery club for 2017! Each month we will be learning a new technique. You will still have a project to make and get designs when you sign up. We are going to have Sew Much Fun exploring all that you can do with your embroidery machine whether you are a beginner or an experienced embroiderer. There are 2 days to choose from Friday or Saturday! We are calling all embroidery fans to come join in the fun! Bring your USB stick so we can download the projects and designs. This is not the same club we had in 2016. It is more technique oriented and I think you are going to love it! Come learn a new technique, make new friends and go home with a great project!

The Quilt Block of the Month program is a great way to get involved in the exciting world of quilting with machine embroidery! Your 5 course program includes hands-on training over in the hoop applique, standard embroidery, tufted stains, line quilting and quilt construction with an expert instructor. At the end of your course you will not only have created a bold and stunning quilt, but will also have expanded your personal skill set and broadened your machine embroidery horizons!

Lets use all those fun feet you buy, but then dont know what to do with or how to use! Susans new fabric book will help you learn how to use them and play at the same time. This is an accordion style book that is housed inside a Triptych trifold cover. The theme is all about nature, and also help you learn new stitching skills, such as Free-Motion, Couching, Ruffles, etc. We will add ribbons, buttons and anything youd like to play with! So, join Susan and make/write your own Garden Story!

Have you always wanted to sew? Our Intro to Sewing class will help you get to know your machine, as well as the basics of pinning, cutting, pressing, and stitching. During this class, youll also learn the basics of hemming, adjusting stitches for certain projects, and finishing edges. Bring your machine from home, or test drive one of our Bernina classroom machines. At the end of the class, you will have made a tissue holder to take home! Adults and teens welcome. 6 to 8:30 $25

We will introduce sewing basics and learn how to read patterns while making different sewing projects and gifts. We will be using Kwik Start & Kwik Sew Learning to Sew Patterns. Patterns and supplies are not included in the cost of class & will vary according to each project. Each student will work at their own pace.

After learning the basics in the INTRO TO SEWING class, the LEARNING TO SEW classes allow you to do a project of your own choosing or one of the class samples. A mystery quilt is just that...a mystery to you. Join us monthly for 8 months to participate in Mystery Quilt Club. How do you select fabric for a project that you cannot see? Come and have some fun creating a one-of-a-kind tree. Using the Tree pattern by Laura Heine, we will make a tree wall size quilt. It can be a Christmas tree, a jeweled tree, a spring time tree, or maybe patriotic tree. The possibilities are limited only by our imaginations. You will leave with your tree ready to layer and quilt. And then, embellish a little, a lot, or leave it simple. We will go over options for embellishment and get to work!

This beginning quilting class will explore many piecing techniques. You will learn from ground zero how to cut, sew & press each block. We will also talk about products & how they affect the finished quilt. So use the good stuff! Good thread, good fabric, good tools, good skills make for a beautiful finish! Each block will build to create a wall hanging or baby quilt or small lap quilt when finished.
