With every machine purchase at classes are offered so that you can “master” all that your machine can do for you. We feel that the more you know about your machine, the more you will enjoy your sewing experience. Our students are invited to attend My BERNINA Classes as often as they like. We understand that “reinforcement” leads to true mastery.

All About ME

All About ME All About ME! is an in-store, virtual education event that includes a 30-45 minute embroidery presentation by a knowledgeable BERNINA educator . $15 per class which includes CD you will take home covering the class information. If you can’t make the class, but want the CD, sign up and let us know you won’t be able to attend and we will burn you a CD. This is for all embroidery machine owners—not just BERNINA brands.

Bali High Quilt

If you enjoy working with jelly rolls (2 1/2 inch strips of fabric), this stunning quilt will be fun and easy to put together. You will learn how to place your colors together to create interesting block formations, as well as complete the two blocks that make up the body of this quilt. We will talk about completing the borders and finishing, and you will feel confident as you go home to finish up your project.

Bernina Club

Bernina Club - Sew Much Fun! is excited to offer this class where you will have fun exploring new patterns and techniques. Each class will include a Power Point presentation and each student will take home a CD containing all instructional material. Susan Fears, BERNINA educator will present in a recorded webinar.. Class Fee is $15 which includes the CD. If you can’t make the class, but want the CD, sign up and let us know you won’t attend and we will burn you a CD.

Bloom

As many of you know, Susan LOVES Amy Butler’s quilt designs & her unique fabric lines! The colors the patterns, well she just loves all of it! So when she saw this Yo-Yo quilt Amy designed she had to make one. Susan has taken her directions & made the quilt with some easier techniques for layering and quilting. This is a two part class since you will need some time to make all those fabulous Yo-yo’s! Class one we will be piecing the backgrounds & making yo-yo’s. Class two we will be making the ruffle & quilting the quilt. You will have a blast working with these beautiful fabrics! They will make you very happy!

Care and Feeding of Your Machine

Come let our experts (Traci, Marcia and Frank) show you what happens to your machine when they perform a clean, oil, and adjust and what you can do to help maintain your machine so it will perform at its best.

Flower Doodles

“Flower Doodles” Let’s play with Wax Pastels & create a water color painting on fabric to brighten those cold winter days. This is a very easy, fun way to paint on fabric. As a bonus you will perfect your machine quilting skills & create a beautiful little quilted wall hanging. Don’t worry about having to know how to draw, Susan will have a pattern you can trace to make this a really easy process, and yes you can be an artist! Globetrotter Mystery Quilt

There is always something exciting in sewing a quilt one block at a time. We will be meeting once a month for six months making our Globetrotting blocks. When we are finished we will have a quilt that has taken us on a wonderful, Sew Much Fun trip.

Introduction to Sewing

Learning to Sew - In this one session class get the basics to get you started sewing. Learn machine operation, variety of straight stitch seams and overcastting seam edges. Bring your machine from home or test drive one of our wonderful Bernina classroom machines. You will leave class with confidence and ready to start your first project. Teens are welcomed in this class. 6 to 9 $30

Jelly Roll Jam

This class uses one jelly roll to make two 36" x 36" quilts, or you can modify it as I did to make one larger quilt that is 42" x 59".  You will get a good start on this project during class.

Kids Camp

Sewing can be fun, you don’t have to be afraid of a sewing machine. You will start with simple hand sewing like sewing buttons and move on to the sewing machine. We will embellish a ready made T-shirt, make a purse, cover a memo book, make a button bracelet and a skirt. We’ll also have projects for boys like shorts, book covers, wallets, and head rap (due rags). IF you have been to camp before, have no fear, we can also do some new projects. Just bring a bag lunch Monday –Friday. On Friday at 1:30 we have a show & tell for family & friends with drinks, fruit & cookies.

Kids Learn to Sew Advanced

We will introduce sewing basics and learn how to read patterns while making different sewing projects and gifts. We will be using Kwik Start & Kwik Sew Learning to Sew Patterns. Patterns and supplies are not included in the cost of class & will vary according to each project. Each student will work at their own pace.

Learning to Sew Continued - This class is for all levels of sewers. Beginners- start your first project. Advanced beginners- continue to learn new techniques. And for you well advanced sewers get help on projects, or just come for an evening of sewing. Prerequisite: Learning to Sew or teacher approval $75 for three classes 6 to 8:30

Machine Applique Techniques

Do you want perfect applique? Well this is the class for you! Never be afraid of applique again after you learn all the easy ways to make it perfect! Spend some time with Susan & you will be able to applique anything you want. These techniques can be used on clothing, quilts, pillows, purses, curtains, anything that will stay still can be appliqued. We will use may different stitches & fabrics. There will be at least 4 different applique techniques for you to perfect.

Machine Quilting and Binding

“Machine Quilting & Binding Description” This class will combine both machine quilting & binding on one little quilt. We will be working on “Quilt Sandwiches” about the size of a placemat & then we will bind them after they are quilted. There will be a multitude of quilting designs we will explore, from using the Walking Foot to Free Motion & if you have the BSR, that will also be covered. Machine quilting takes lots of practice, but this will give you all the tips to make your quilting so much better! Once you try it, you will be hooked!

My BERNINA Embroidery Class - Embroidery Machine Basics

Learn the ins and outs of your BERNINA or Deco embroidery machine. From the basics of hooping to customizing designs and Endless Embroidery, you’ll discover all you need to get the most from your embroidery system. Topics covered: stabilizers, needle and thread; hooping; templates/placement; file formats; tension; accessing designs; stitching a design; customizing designs; combining designs; lettering; stitch density; saving & deleting designs; free arm embroidery; multi-hoping; mega hoop; jumbo hoop; endless embroidery. $10 Supply Fee —Please bring your manual to all classes -Aurora owners MUST bring laptop with software loaded .Bernina software owners are welcome to bring their laptops to use in class (software must be installed prior to class). Overlocker Class 1: Basic Serger Use—All BERNINA overlockers (except 009DCC). Designed to make you comfortable with your new serger, this class covers threading, tension settings, and basic serger applications. Topics covered: 4-thread balanced stitch; adjusting tension settings; micro thread control; stitch length; cutting width; differential feed; securing serged seams; corners: inside and out; 3-thread balanced stitch (wide & narrow); presser foot tape guide; 3-thread rolled hem; 3-thread flatlock stitch; 2-thread balanced stitch; 2-thread rolled hem; 2-thread flatlock.

My BERNINA Overlocker Class 2

My BERNINA Overlocker Class 2 Serger Class 2: Serging Ahead—All BERNINA sergers. Learn to use your serger for more than seaming and edge finishes. This class explores the use of serger accessory presser feet and attachments for both embellishment and practical uses. You’ll also discover how to incorporate chain and cover stitching if your model offers these features. My BERNINA Class 3—Creative Options—artista 640, 730, and 8-series machines. This class examines the distinctive features and functions that make these models unique and useful additions to your sewing rooms. Topics covered: setup program; stitch collage; long stitch; tapering stitches; multi-directional stitching; free-form directional stitching; all-over directional stitching; trailing tulip vines; and monograms. 10 to 4

Quick Start Quilting

Quick Start Quilting - Come to our 1 day primer on quilting. We will spend the day learning about rotary cutters & rulers, while making half-square, quarter square triangles and strip piecing. We will put our blocks together for a small wall hanging or table runner. Pack a bag lunch & drink to get the most out of your day! Saturday 10 to 4:30 $55

Quilty Row Robin

Come join us for a fun way to make a quilt with friends. In this spin on a round robin where you make a middle and then friends in the group add to your beginning each month, we will make rows for each person’s quilt and then pass it along for the next person to make a row. At the end you will receive your original back as a quilt top. We will meet once a month for a show and tell, hints and tips and then you can make the next row at home until the next time we meet. It is a fun way to make new quilting friends and have a quilt top that all of your friends have contributed to. If you want to bring a dish to share, this could be a great “sewcial” time!

Ribbon Wallet

Have you seen all of the beautiful new ribbons that the store has gotten in? I fell in love as soon as I saw them and couldn't wait to make this easy wallet. You will want to carry it by itself and not hide it away in your purse. Ribbons are sewn on a stabilizer making construction quick and easy.

Software Mastery 3

Software 7 Mastery Class 3 This class will focus on manual digitizing tools. Topics will include manual digitizing, adding holes, echo quilting, appliqué, and multi-hooping. If time permits blackwork run, fonts, effects, and creating a monogram border will be discussed.

Software Mastery Class 4

Class Four – Tuesday, 5/27, 6 to 9 The focus of this class will be 3-D embroidery.  We will cover the raised sating stitch and trapunto, punchwork, and stumpwork.

Software Mastery Class 5

Class Five – Tuesday 6/24, 6 to 9 During this class, we will look at the additional applications available in the software.  These are the quilter application, the cross stitch application, and the portfolio. 

Software Sampler

Software Sampler Sew Much Fun! is hosting a virtual software presentation by a BERNINA Educator. Each month will include a software lesson with instructions for the various levels of BERNINA Embroidery Software. You will also receive instructions for using your new software knowledge to create a project and have an opportunity to try your hand at a number of embroidery and embellishment techniques. Each session is $15 if software was purchased from Sew Much Fun! ($30 each if software was purchased elsewhere). You will also be able to take home the design because it will be in its’ final form on the CD you will receive. If you can’t make the class, but want the CD, sign up and let us know you won’t be able to attend and we will burn you a CD. If you have been wondering about the software and want to come sit in on the demonstration, please come as our guest! We do ask you to sign up so we can arrange the classroom appropriately. New for 2012 - moved to the 4th Monday of each month, 6 to 9pm, for a quieter classroom. Hands on - Bring your laptop to work through the exercise after the video presentation.
