With every machine purchase at classes are offered so that you can “master” all that your machine can do for you. We feel that the more you know about your machine, the more you will enjoy your sewing experience. Our students are invited to attend My BERNINA Classes as often as they like. We understand that “reinforcement” leads to true mastery.

All About Embroidery

All About Embroidery This is an in-store, virtual education event that includes a 30-45 minute embroidery presentation by a knowledgeable BERNINA educator . Bring a USB stick to class to have ALL the class information (video presentation, power point lesson, free designs) put on for you. $15 per class.

All Together Now

This is a fast and fun quilt to make. I love this quilt in batiks but any fabric will work. This quilt is made using a stack and whack method and can be made in an afternoon. You will want to make more than one. Pick five different colors; be daring and go bright and bold. You will stack layers, make random cuts, shuffle and piece it all back together again. This is a quick pieced quilt with little worry about color placement. No need to pick borders as they are only added to the top and bottom of this quilt and made from the center color of the quilt.

Bernina Club

Bernina Club - Sew Much Fun! is excited to offer this class where you will have fun exploring new patterns and techniques. Each class will include a Power Point presentation and each student will bring a USB stick to have all instructional material and video presentation downloaded to it.. Susan Fears, BERNINA educator will present in a recorded webinar. Class Fee is $15 but if you also sign up for All About Embroidery or Software Club, you will get one class for FREE! Binding with Confidence

This class is designed to take all the fear out of binding your quilts!  No longer will you be struggling with the mitered corners on those quilts you have worked so hard on.  There will be several binding techniques discussed for different types of quilts.

Constructing Your Tuffet

You have finished sewing your tuffet cover and now need to upholster your footstool. We will be working in pairs and you will get to choose your “construction time” so there will be less waiting time on the staple gun, etc. Fee: $80 includes Kit (wooden base, foam, batting, button, cording, staples with air gun) Instructor: Marcia

Tuffets are a touch of whimsy for your home that blend with all decors and bridge the gap between design and function. In addition to being heirloom home accents, they make treasured gifts for special occasions including weddings, new babies, anniversaries and special birthdays. Learn to sew a gorgeous cover with your choice of fabrics during the first class session and turn the cover into an upholstered footstool in the second class.

Design Works Decoded

This is a new club from BERNINA! We will be meeting once a quarter to learn more about DesignWorks Software. Super Bowl 2015—Design a Cutwork bowl embellished with PaintWork and CrystalWork. You won’t be able to make just one! If you have not purchased any of the Design Works tools and want to see what this is all about, you are welcome to sit in on this class without charge. Students who pay $15 get the class information (including any designs) transferred to their USB sticks. Not included in the Club special of Buy 2 Get 1 Free.

Flower Power Strip of the Month

Let’s use the stitches on your machine to quilt this fun throw. We will be quilting a strip each month, and then putting our strips together during the last class. Learn that there is no such thing as the wrong stitch when it comes to this throw.

French Braid As A Border

French Braid as a Border When I picked this quilt to make I wanted something different. In this class we will be making the borders of a quilt. The center is a large cut of fabric and the pieced portion of this quilt are the borders. The construction of the French Braid is surprisingly simple. The challenging part of this quilt will be fabric selection and placement. French Braids are nothing more than two-sided log cabins. In this class we will focus on the construction of the braid. Once you have completed one braid we can pick out your center fabric. We will discuss the trimming of your braids and the process of assembling your quilt but will not complete this quilt in class.

Friends Night Out

Girls Night Out - We have had many requests to have some time available for Sew Much Fun! customers to get together just to sew, catch up with sewing buddies, and make new friends. Here is your time! To add to the fun (and because we will be meeting during the dinner hour and who skips meals?), please plan on bringing a potluck dish to share (whatever you want - ”if we all bring desserts, I do not think anyone will complain!). Sew Much Fun! will provide the paper products and beverage. We are having a great time - come join us! 3rd Friday of the month starting on November 21, 2014, 5 to 10. Registration is a must—$5 class fee.

Heirloom Sewing - The Basics

Heirloom Sewing: The Basics Whether your goal is an iconic christening gown or classic embellishments to your own clothing, this is where you start. In this class, you will learn about fabrics and laces as well as basic hand and machine heirloom sewing techniques including how to sew a rolled hem, French seams, and joining laces to other laces or fabrics to produce a truly exquisite result. The class project will be a small decorative pillow case.

Imaginary Day Embroidery Block of the Month

This is a machine applique quilt project done in the hoop. It is a modern twist on traditional crewel work that will make a lap (60 x 60) or a bed size (84x 84) size quilt. The classes (6) will cover different machine embroidery techniques, including printing on fusible web, cutwork and tack and trim. You can test out different methods and maybe find a new favorite. We will also cover multi-hooping, all of the designs are split to fit in a large hoop (127mm x 178 mm hoop).

Introduction to Sewing

Have you always wanted to sew? Our Intro to Sewing class will help you get to know your machine, as well as the basics of pinning, cutting, pressing, and stitching. During this class, you’ll also learn the basics of hemming, adjusting stitches for certain projects, and finishing edges. Bring your machine from home, or test drive one of our Bernina classroom machines. At the end of the class, you will have made a tissue holder to take home! Adults and teens welcome. 6 to 8:30 $25

Kids Camp

Sewing can be fun, you do not have to be afraid of a sewing machine. You will start with simple hand sewing like sewing buttons and move on to the sewing machine. We will embellish a ready made T-shirt, make a purse, cover a memo book, make a button bracelet and a skirt. We will also have projects for boys like shorts, book covers, wallets, and head rap (due rags). IF you have been to camp before, have no fear, we can also do some new projects. Just bring a bag lunch Monday –Friday. On Friday at 1:30 we have a show & tell for family & friends with drinks, fruit & cookies.

Kids Learn to Sew Advanced

Learning to Sew

In these classes, we will focus on understanding patterns and online tutorials while making several different sewing projects and gifts. Lotus Do you love the challenge of a new ruler? I do! Lotus uses the Hex N More ruler from Jaybird Quilts. Lotus can be made in four sizes and also comes in a mini pattern. Pick any of the four sizes and we will learn to make the basic block. I will teach you my method of matching perfect points. Any fabric will work so choose your favorites. In this class we will discuss fabric placement, cut blocks and piece as many of the 28 blocks we can get finished. Hex N More has 14 patterns that can be made with this ruler.

Machine Quilting, Quilted Purse and More

This fun class will explore all the aspects of machine quilting! If you have had trouble machine quilting or have been afraid to try it, this class should help you tremendously! There will be all the info needed to know what threads to use for your quilting project, needles, batting and more. We will be stitching on small placemat size samples (Fat Quarters) (these could be made into placemats if you like) to perfect the stitches we are going to use. Next there will be more stitching exercises with a focus on making a small quilt or purse! Susan will have several patterns for you to choose from. One choice will be a whimsical quilt design using quilt doodles! The other will be one of Susan’s newest patterns called “Happy Little Critters” baby sized quilts. Applique critter choices are Prince Froggy, Rosie Rabbit, and Sebastian Teddy. Another option will be her new quilted purse pattern with a little ruffle!

Not Just Another Towel of the Month

The monthly club for machine embroidery or traditional applique enthusiast will focus on different sewing feet and techniques using tea towels. The projects are so cute! We will work ahead so you have the towel ready to use the next month. You will learn a lot about your machine and about different feet and techniques. 12 months long; 4th Saturday; 10 to 12. You are invited to stay to finish your towel.

Perfect Machine Applique

Do you want perfect applique?  Well this is the class for you!  Never be afraid of applique again after you learn all the easy ways to make it perfect!  Spend some time with Susan & you will be able to applique anything you want.  These techniques can be used on clothing, quilts, pillows, purses, curtains, anything that will stay still can be appliqued.  We will use may different stitches & fabrics. There will be at least 4 different applique techniques for you to perfect. Beginner - Intermediate skill level.

Quilt Beginnings

Quilt Beginnigs will explore many piecing techniques. You will learn from ground zero how to cut, sew & press each block. We will also talk about products & how they effect the finished quilt. So use the good stuff! Good thread, good fabric, good tools, good skills make for a beautiful finish! Each block will build to create a wall hanging or baby quilt when finished. This could be done slightly differently to make a lap size quilt if you like. Most of all we are going to have fun quilting! This is a 4 part class.

Quilty Fun

This quilt is a fun way to use up some of your scraps as you practice some piecing skills. Instead of assembling blocks this quilt is completed in rows. Each row will give you practice with various quilting techniques ranging from four patches to half square triangles as well as techniques such as chain piecing so you can sew more with less effort. We will make one block from each row in class. When you finish you will have a quilt that has lots of memories and is beautiful as well.

Slice of Life

Slice Of Life We all love quick and easy quilts and this one takes the cake, or maybe slice of cake! Thanks to Missouri Star’s simple directions and out of the box thinking, a layer cake and a sashing fabric you will be able to piece this quilt during class. It can easily be made larger or smaller depending your needs. This quilt is good for beginners or those looking for a quick project.

Smocked Garment

Use your newly learned or refreshed smocking skills to make either a bishop dress or john-john for a special child this spring. Remember that Easter is April 5! Topics include: fabric preparation, plackets, neckbands, piping, sleeves, attaching smocked inserts, and hems. The class fee includes pleating of the fabric for the garment. The supply list includes The Bishop Dress pattern by Ellen McCarn or Children’s Corner Johnny. Both patterns are available at Sew Much Fun. Other supplies include freezer paper, pencil, and paper cutting scissors, fabric for garment, thread, shears, tape measure, pins, and sewing machine.

Smocking 101

Smocking 101—always wanted to smock—but never had a chance?  Come learn the basics of English Smocking in this two session class.  You will learn the three basic stitches in a sampler that can be made into a pillow.  A kit ($15.00) will be provided, but please bring your scissors.

Software Inspirations

Software Inspirations Sew Much Fun! is hosting a virtual software presentation by a BERNINA Educator. Each month will include a software lesson with instructions for the various levels of BERNINA Embroidery Software. You will also receive instructions for using your new software knowledge to create a project and have an opportunity to try your hand at a number of embroidery and embellishment techniques. Each session is $15. If you sign up for the other 2 clubs (All About Embroidery and BERNINA Club), you will receive one club FREE! If you have been wondering about the software and want to come sit in on the demonstration, please come as our guest! We do ask you to sign up so we can arrange the classroom appropriately.

Software Mastery 2

Software 7 Mastery Class 2 This class will focus on auto digitizing techniques including digitizing redwork, using the magic wand, photosnap and converting artwork to embroidery. If time permits, digitizing a picture without outlines will be discussed.

Software Mastery 3

Software 7 Mastery Class 3 Manual Digitizing— In this class, students will learn to digitize designs. How to edit stitches in designs will also be discussed. This lesson will also include learning to use Color Film for object sequencing.

Software Mastery Class 4

Class Four Appliqué—This class will cover creating appliqués. Also covered will be printing templates, adding fabrics, customizing thread charts. Management of designs using Portfolio will also be discussed.

Software Mastery Class 5

Class Five Multi-Hooping, Special Effects, and Special Programs—This class will introduce students to the techniques needed to break apart larger designs and save the parts for multi-hooping. It will also cover special effects such as pattern stitches, the halo tool and stippling. There will also be an overview of the quilter and cross stitch programs.

T-Shirt Quilt

Ever wondered how to use all of those old t-shirts? You cannot keep wearing them but do not want to part with them. How about turning them into a quilt? This class will arm you with the basics and show you how to customize your quilt layouts to get a truly unique quilt that makes a wonderful gift and clean out those old boxes of t shirts! Some quilting experience necessary. $35

Tote-ally Tote-able Tote

Let your embroidery machine do all the work! This roomy tote (finished top edge 14 ľ” across and 12” tall) is just waiting for you to choose your fabrics and make your own fashion statement. Each block features distinctive quilting or decorative motifs. The blocks are stitched in the hoop and the row is joined in the hoop. Then the rows are sewn together. Bring your sewing/embroidery machine and come make one side of the bag in class. You will go home with all the knowledge needed to complete your project.

Do you love little birdies??? Do you love warm or cool colors of fabric? Well, here is your chance to make Susan’s newest design to be your favorite quilt! It is easy piecing with fun machine appliqué to make this little birdie quilt. Pick a color combination in warm colors or cool colors in a monochromatic theme from batiks OR use any color combination for your quilt. And don’t forget the button eye.

Twist and Turn Bargello

The hardest part about this quilt will be picking the fabric. Don’t be intimidated by this quilt. If you can cut strips and sew straight lines you can master this quilt. Decide on a color theme using one or two colors or as many as possible. All strips will be cut the same size and you will make 5 strip sets. From these strip sets you will cut slices and start putting it all back together again. In this class you will complete at least one strip set and start piecing your Bargello. Keep an open mind when choosing fabric, go out of your box and pick a couple zingers, you will love the outcome. Once you master this bargello I have another one to challenge you.
